Although I haven’t traveled outside of North America to date, last year I did travel pretty far to Las Vegas, Nevada. My dad booked a trip for a group of family members and close friends, and there ended up being fifteen of us in all. We flew together, and we spent our time there gambling, eating at restaurants, shopping, seeing the sights, and we even took in a baseball game while we were there. I never thought there could be so much to do in a single city, but I was wrong. Las Vegas was an absolutely thrilling experience that I won’t ever forget, and it truly did feel like a home away from home for me.
If I had a $1000 shopping spree, and I could only spend it at one store, I would choose to spend the money at Best Buy. I would buy a couple of new video games, a few movies, a new iPod Touch, and a nice set of headphones. The reason I chose Best Buy over any other store is because I absolutely love electronics, and Best Buy offers the widest range of products that suit my interests. I love to play video games, listen to music, and watch movies, so as far as I can tell, there would be no better place to spend a big wad of cash than at my local Best Buy.
Jobs are a funny thing. Sometimes you have a job that you absolutely can’t stand, and sometimes you find a job that you can’t get enough of. In the past, I have worked for a landscaping company, worked as a cashier at a country market, been an umpire for little league baseball, and various other positions. However, my favorite job I’ve ever had is what I do now. I currently write for a website that covers various types of rock music. I get to work from the comfort of my home, I make good money, and the perks that come with the job are outstanding. I get to go see concerts for free, I have access to free music before it hits stores, and I get to meet a whole lot of different people.
In today’s hectic modern life, we often forget the value of being fire safe. How many smoke detectors do you have in your home? When was the last time you got the batteries checked? Have you tested the smoke detectors recently? Smoke Detectors are one of the most common and important items in being fire safe. Having a physical fire safe is also a good practice. If your house was damaged in a fire, what would happen to your belongings? A fireproof safe can protect all your valuables and help you feel more secure in case of a fire.
We often forget the little things in life, but fire is no little matter; so be prepared.
Why did my trip over the fire hose in the house and get injury caused them to no longer welcome us to the fire department. She was so clumsy that we had to take her to the hospital by ambulance. It was so unfair to her that I was going to stop hanging out with her after this was all over. I am so happy be there with the rest of the staff because she would have flipped if I would have told her to her face. She broke her arm and that is sad, but our friendship is over.
If I could visit any location in the world on vacation, it would have to be Australia. I haven’t quite narrowed down where in the country I’d like to visit, but at this point, anywhere would do. I have a few friends who have visited there, and after seeing countless pictures and videos, and hearing all these amazing stories about all of their incredible experiences, I can’t think of anywhere else I would rather visit. The culture is different from where I live, but not drastically so, the scenery appears to be incredible, and the wildlife is amazing. Couple that with beautiful weather and lots of fun activities to partake in, and we have a winner.
The one thing that most people don’t know about me is that I have always had a strong desire to be a soldier. I can remember being 4-years old and playing like I was a soldier with the neighborhood children. It was exciting to see how quickly I could climb a tree, swing from a tire tied to a rope, do long distance running, flip over monkey bars and ride hard and fast on bicycles, skates and more. The thought of joining the armed forces stayed with me throughout my teen years and I even took a college career exam to find my career interests. It turned out that I had a high interest in becoming either a Naval or Air Force Officer and should achieve the rank of captain or above. This was surprising to me and I delighted in the possibility of serving my country. I did go on to college and got a master’s in social work instead. But, to this day, I continue to think about the wonderful road not taken that led to service to my country.
I consider myself to be a collective work in progress that is continually changing and improving. The blessing of living and changing is the true purpose of life. The God-Given talents that I possess to help others with their chosen life plans are my most precious and valued characteristics. They are my ability to talk, negotiate, advocate, bargain, discover and share on behalf of clients and with clients. The physical attributes I possess are my winning smile, visible openness to others, eye-to-eye connection with others and calming persona. These qualities are gifts that help me do my best for all I serve and I am thankful to God for his blessing me to use them thoughtfully in the world.
I always look forward to the reward of living another day with God’s grace. This is something that amazes me and delights me with every new day that I awaken. The ability to wake up and greet the day with prayer and affirmations is a gift and the continuation of stewardship throughout the day adds to my joy. I am able to serve, assist and advocate for clients, commune with family, friends and neighbors as I go about my daily duties. The excitement of unexpected happenings, surprises and rewards heightens the thrill of living in a land of freedom, having choices and being able to help others improve their lives. This is a blessing that deserves daily prayer and praise for all the bounty of gifts and rewards that I receive daily.
The best accomplishments that I made in the past week include: visiting sick relatives to bring a little joy, companionship and laughter to their day. I have a sick sister and aunt that both needed cheering up and I decided to cook a pot of homemade chicken soup and spend some time with each of them. I also took a favorite video for them to watch while we visited. The video was a comedy and we all had a good laugh. It was lots of fun and made them feel a sense of caring and sharing for a while. It also made me feel good to spend time with loved ones. This was time, effort, energy and giving well shared with family.
