Feeling No Pain

I am so tired of thinking about the recession that I have forgotten there was one.  I used to worry about all the problems and how the government is going to fix it, but now that I see that they do not have a solution, and any solution they do have will not fix the problems.  Therefore, I try not to think about recession and carry on with my life as if nothing has happened.  One person cannot change the world.  If they could, then there would be too many chiefs and not enough Indians.  Eventually, the recession will end, who knows when, and the economy will bounce back.

Daytime Drama

My day goes like every other day, not as well as I would like it too.  I do not have any friends where I live and spend most of the day doing chores, fiddling with the computer, or trying to find something to keep me busy.  The phone rings constantly, it seems, and it is usually my brother, who wants to tell me about his aches and pains.  He does not just tell me once, but repeats what he has already told me.  I need to get away from all the everyday stuff and be by myself for a while.

Excuse me

I believe your manners have left the room without asking to be excused.  What is it with people these days?  Yes, I know, the favorite quote for centuries has been “Times have changed”.  But does that mean we need to lose manners, etiquette and common courtesies?  What about the people in line at the grocery store?  They see that you have 2 items while they have an overflowing cart, yet they look at their watch, pick up their cell phone and begin an obnoxious conversation with their dog’s vet while piling their purchases onto the conveyor belt.  Then they go through 3 declined cards before they cough up cash.  Although I want to scream “Why don’t you let me go first!?!  I am only buying 2 things and my debit card works!” I instead find consolation in the fact that after paying, I and my little car are pulling out of the parking lot before this inconsiderate person can even place 2 bags in the back of their gas guzzling SUV.  Hmm, or how about the cashier in a busy clothing store who runs out of receipt tape.  She is SO dramatic and asks her manager to help her out since, as she tells the customer in the front of the line that she is spoiled and doesn’t need to know things like that.  Are you serious lady!?!  I applied for a job here last week; you must be the one they decided was a more suitable candidate for the position.  Since times have changed, do I need to lose my social and professional graces as well?  Maybe then I won’t be stressed about money.

I love my little home

My family and I live in an upper-middle class subdivision with friendly neighbors.  Don’t get me wrong, they can be meddlesome gossips at times but when we need them, they are there.  With an extremely narrow staircase leading to the second floor, carpet that needs replaced after the children move out and a garage door that is broken, this relatively new home is already gaining character.  I get frustrated with the many idiosyncrasies but after arriving home after a long trip or enjoying the silence when the rest of the family is out doing their own thing, I love this house and have nothing to say but ‘home-sweet-home’.

Fashion is my passion but not today

Today is my down day.   I donned a pair of white linen pants and a blue shirt with a rose screen print and loose fit down to the kitchen this morning to fix my husband’s work lunch.  I lounged in this comfy pair of frayed, holey almost see through pants until about noon.  I then changed into a pair of ripped jeans, went to the store to buy a few items and returned home to take off my flip flops.  After taking a shower in a few hours, I intend to change into a pair of pinstripe shorts and a dressier short sleeved shirt in case my husband and I go out for a date tonight.

Recession and the future

The world has been in the grip of serious financial recession and some of the countries have been affected badly. The economy all over the world has been taken for a toss with most of the major banks collapsing or being bankrupt. The mortgages have been in arrears and the sale values of the securities have been short of liquidating the liabilities. The money flow has been limited thereby pulling away a lot of economic activities in to the back ground. But I personally feel that there is always a turnaround possible. Indications to this have been already provided by the third world economies. It is strongly felt that the activities will turn around but may take its own time to become realistic.

A Home Away From Home

Although I haven’t traveled outside of North America to date, last year I did travel pretty far to Las Vegas, Nevada. My dad booked a trip for a group of family members and close friends, and there ended up being fifteen of us in all. We flew together, and we spent our time there gambling, eating at restaurants, shopping, seeing the sights, and we even took in a baseball game while we were there. I never thought there could be so much to do in a single city, but I was wrong. Las Vegas was an absolutely thrilling experience that I won’t ever forget, and it truly did feel like a home away from home for me.

The Place I Would Spend My Temporary Fortune

If I had a $1000 shopping spree, and I could only spend it at one store, I would choose to spend the money at Best Buy. I would buy a couple of new video games, a few movies, a new iPod Touch, and a nice set of headphones. The reason I chose Best Buy over any other store is because I absolutely love electronics, and Best Buy offers the widest range of products that suit my interests. I love to play video games, listen to music, and watch movies, so as far as I can tell, there would be no better place to spend a big wad of cash than at my local Best Buy.

A Look Back at Past Jobs

Jobs are a funny thing. Sometimes you have a job that you absolutely can’t stand, and sometimes you find a job that you can’t get enough of. In the past, I have worked for a landscaping company, worked as a cashier at a country market, been an umpire for little league baseball, and various other positions. However, my favorite job I’ve ever had is what I do now. I currently write for a website that covers various types of rock music. I get to work from the comfort of my home, I make good money, and the perks that come with the job are outstanding. I get to go see concerts for free, I have access to free music before it hits stores, and I get to meet a whole lot of different people.

My Dream Vacation and Why I Chose It

If I could visit any location in the world on vacation, it would have to be Australia. I haven’t quite narrowed down where in the country I’d like to visit, but at this point, anywhere would do. I have a few friends who have visited there, and after seeing countless pictures and videos, and hearing all these amazing stories about all of their incredible experiences, I can’t think of anywhere else I would rather visit. The culture is different from where I live, but not drastically so, the scenery appears to be incredible, and the wildlife is amazing. Couple that with beautiful weather and lots of fun activities to partake in, and we have a winner.
